Bike miles for 2004.

Can't ride the rest of the few remaining days left 2004...My annual miles were.
6,247...Commuting miles took up 1,924....Could have had a better year...Just average...

Paul L. 12-30-04 08:37 AM

I am going to take a fifty mile ride tomorrow (unless something happens) and end up with 7001 miles for 2004. 1000 more than last year. I could have had 1000 more but the family grew and I had to reconfigure my commuting strategy to cut down on time/miles. I'm still happy with 7000 though not too shabby.

gabiker 12-30-04 08:46 AM

I'm doing 45 today and will have just a few over 6,000.

Grasschopper 12-30-04 09:08 AM

I started in Mid Sept and have pulled down ~950 (+20/-0) miles. Am planning on going out once it gets above 38* F here today for another 25-35. That doesn't include any trainer time that I have put in in the last month.

Goal for 2005 is to put more miles on my bikes than my car.

2Rodies 12-30-04 10:20 AM

Didn't really get started until May due to move from SoCal to Austin but I managed 5300mi. This included two pretty nasty accidents that sidelined me for about 4 weeks. Dec was all base, did two zone 2 centuries plus 600 zone 1 miles.

February 20 (when new computer was installed) through yesterday - approximately 5225 miles.

Happy New Year.

March-December

3,156, a personal best.

terrymorse 12-30-04 11:32 AM

14,532 miles
279 ride days
1,210,280 vertical feet
988.5 hours of saddle time

The storm seems to be over, so maybe I'll get an hour or two more in before midnight tomorrow.

"2" zone 2 centuries... nice Most I have ever done in zone 2 was 48 miles without stopping.

I have done in the last month 258 trainer E2 miles and about 135 or so raod miles. Been a bad month for group rides. Got messed up when I was hurt.

I can not say I was faithful about milage this year, one computer died and I do not have a computer on my MTB which I use for patrol. I estimate 6000 miles.

kewlrunningz 12-30-04 12:01 PM

That's about 52 miles a day... impressive!

karlfitt 12-30-04 12:04 PM

Well, I'll post up with all you higher milage types.

Just got a road bike af=gain this March. First execise in just over two years.
The road bike has right at 1700 (1696) miles on it. And I have done close to 300 on the mountain bike.

So a 2000 mile year.

Should be easy to do more next year.

saintx 12-30-04 12:11 PM

got on a roadie for the first time since I was a kid on Nov 29 to date have put on 350. Can't wait till tomorrow. By the way prefer Bib shorts.

Geez Terry - do you do anything other than ride a bike? (don't answer that) Those numbers are quite impressive as are the documented journeys on your website.

Welcome to bikeforums.net - I'm sure many of us can benefit from your experience.

Nice vertical, dude. I hope you brought a beer along for when you crossed that 1,000,000th foot of vertical...

Thanks. From what I've read so far, this looks like a nice bunch of riders. I'll be sure to check in regularly.

And I had to take a ride on the soggy roads today, just so I could go over the 1000-hour mark for the year. I know, I have a problem.

Ender Wiggin 12-30-04 05:09 PM

Err.. about 40. I got my bike on Dec. 27th, though. I plan on doing at least 50 in 2005.

Wish me luck!

bhchdh 12-30-04 05:13 PM

"1,210,280 vertical feet"

Just say it out loud " over one million feet of climbing ". DAMN!

For me around 4200 miles, it's so flat around here we have to count bridges an overpasses as hills.

Come out to Colorado sometime next summer.
There are no flat rides. :D

bman 12-31-04 12:52 PM

I did over 5500 miles a year for the last few years but only did around 1500 this year. A new profession and being married will limit my miles, but now I enjoy the rides more.

JavaMan 12-31-04 06:26 PM

I rode 3,863 miles in 2004, which is a combination of commuting and group rides.

Portis 12-31-04 06:29 PM

Over 6000 on my Mountain Bikes with 2.0 tires. Most of this was on unpaved roads. Not exactly "Road Cycling" but close. :p

Stealthman_1 12-31-04 06:44 PM

Just got off the bike as the wind picked up again this afternoon for another round of storm it seems.
5268 miles with 334,787 verticle feet of climbing. I did over 100,000 feet of climbing in August, how you can average it every month for a year is just stunning! Awesome Terry.
