Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Hyundai Accent hatchback. I can pop the front wheels off and put 2 bikes inside with heavy padding in between...... or my wife's Ford Contour with a Yakima rack on top with 2 Viper bike mounts.

I'm surprised i haven't seen a single subaru yet.

i drive a 2001 miata when i'm not driving the truck.
i've used a simple bell bikerack on it but it's only good for short hauls.

which is all I usually need, unless i'm traveling to a triathlon somewhere.

I wonder how a subie WRX wagon would do...

[QUOTE=DogBoy]Ford Ranger with a cap. Not a solution to the original posters problem though.

I have the same solution you do. My lid locks too so it is great for storage/security. I live in a downtown apt so storage is not the best.

I have posted this before, but its not going to kill anyone...

My 04 WRX STi below.

I also suggested a regluar WRX to my mom and it is much more manageable, has better ground clearance, cheaper, gets more than 10 mpg, etc. but...... it also feels broken compared to this ****er.

Here's my new bicycle hauler. It can all of my singles and my 94" tandem easily. It also has a hitch for hauling bikes on a hitch rack.

I drive a 1996 Chevrolet Corsica that I inherited from my great-grandparents. I know, i know, she's a sweet ride. That baby really hauls @$$. Actually it's not and it really doesn't. I either use my dad's rack which is kind of a pain to set up, or I just take of the front wheel and slide it into the back seat.

It looks like Audi's are popular here. Here's my Avant (wagon)....

As stated above...just put down the back seats and the bike goes in without having to remove the wheels.

As an owner of a '00 A6 2.7tq I have a love hate relationship with this car. On one hand the car is fast, beautiful and handles well. On the other VAGroup cars are not the highest quality. This car has had so many recalls that I feel like it should live at the dealership! I doubt that I will ever own another VAG car again. This summer will most likely see the Audi replace with a Volvo S60R.

I must have longer legs, ergo higher saddle - I need to remove the front wheel, it's not going in otherwise.

Oh...I must have misread your original post. For some reason I missed the wheel removal part. I have a '00 A4, so maybe there is more room. I'm 6'1" and don't have to remove the wheel or move the saddle down for the bike to fit...and it's a 60 cm bike.
