Getting a New Trainer Today

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Getting a New Trainer Today

I'm going to buy a new trainer today after work,

I've decided on the Cycleops Fluid 2,

just not sure whether to get the one that comes with the 5 training DVDs or the one that doesn't.

Do you think guys think it would be worth the extra $100 to get the Train Right DVDs?

I'm using this trainer with my track bike.

Nice on getting the trainer...

As to the videos it is up to you. I am motiavated enough with music or TV on the trainer, usually the news in fine or a motion picture movie.

Awesome trainer, mine has about 2,200 miles on it so far. I got the one w/ one video, which I have yet to watch. But great decision! Its the best trainer possible with the fluid resistance.

No.

And Trainers suck.....(except for the times when you are swapping stems/seatposts and are trying to dial in the perfect riding position)

but I did have a cycle-ops 2 last year and I can definitely say it is very well made.

The videos can give you specific work outs and teach you drills to do on the road if you are inclined to improve and dont have the knowledge yourself or the desire to hire a coach. I have found the few I have useful. They can also make the time spent on the trainer go a little faster. If you think you will use them, $100 is a decent price. If you think you will only use a few of them, it's too much.

I know some people use the spinervals videos, too.

I just got a trainer for Christmas and I have found that videos (I have some of the Spinervals) make me train a lot harder than I would if I were just watching mindless tv programming. I bought the Spinervals that were more focused on intervals and I like the way they force you to push yourself.

Videos do not force you to do anything, it is your choice. I find these videos do not all me to train on what I need to train on for the racing I want to do. I find they are great for arobics. For me I relize the time on the trainer is for training so I am quite motivated... and I am a fairly motivated person anyway.
