Giro Factor Shoes
I just installed the Speedplay cleats on my new Giro Factor shoes and the screws are protruding into the foot bed. I can also see a triangular impression that goes in a line around the outside screw holes. It looks sort of like a triangle cut out on the insole (no sign at all of this on the outside of the sole). This bump is very obvious to see and feel. I'm sure would be quite irritating on a ride.
I've installed cleats on a few shoes so this is not something new to me. These are the stock screws that come with Speedplay pedals so they are not extra long.
If anyone out there has dealt with this I'd appreciate your thoughts.

So, I'll answer my own stupid question. The much ballyhooed "really, really, thin sole" does, in fact, require a short screw, which Giro provides. That would be known if some people would read the directions. Don't worry folks, my kind of dumb isn't contagious.

Give us a report after you've put a few miles on them. I'd be interested to know what you think of the shoes. Thanks.

I did 45 miles in them yesterday. There is a back story to be told. I rode the carbon Shimano shoes (RS something, I think) but they were getting a bit old so time for a new toy. I picked up a pair of Vittoria Horas on Ebay, worried that my size 42 feet might not fit into the size 41.5 Vittorias. The size difference is minute but I always got numb toes about 20 miles out. Very frustrating because the Vittorias are a work of art. Just beautiful. I switched back to my Shimanos last week, did 94 miles and got a bit of numbing. I don't think the Vittorias caused some sort of change in my feet so I'm blaming my feet not the shoes. The Giros are a 42 and measure very slightly smaller than a 42 Shimano. They felt fine but I still got slightly numb toes (again, I blame my feet not the shoe). The ongoing theme in reviews that I've seen is their amazing comfort and I don't dispute that, they do seem a little more comfortable than other shoes. So, my verdict is, nice but they are not going to change my life. I really wish I had a pair of 42 Vittoria Horas though.
