Cheap biking shorts

Hi. Where can I get the cheapest pair of biking shorts with a decent chamois built in? I plan to cut them down a bit to wear under regular shorts. Thanks for any info.

Might be able to find some cheaper ones (especially clearance items) at REI stores... Pearl Izumi shorts are usually less expensive but generally decent quality.

Online I like Nashbar and Pricepoint.

Why not just get a pair of liner shorts?

I started with cheap and wasted money on more cheap until I bought quality. skip the madness and buy the good stuff. personally I like thin lined trishorts under running or other sport shorts. guess I'm modest. I like these and just bought a 2nd pair

+1 Keep looking until you find the right pair marked down $50 or more.

Why are you going to wear them under regular shorts? You know just wearing bibs without shorts over them make you more aerodynamic and more "pro" looking.

Buy cheap, buy twice. Also, liners are good for short rides or when you're riding to an event, but for long rides, just own the tights dude...it's a lot more comfortable.

Bellweather makes a decent pair of shorts around $40.

Personal preference, but I don't feel like trishorts (the thin lining) is adequate at all. I don't much mind running in regular padded bike shorts and conversely HATE biking with tri shorts.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I'm riding in a bike rally on a mountain bike and only wear regular shorts for my daily short rides for exercise. I used to road bike with lycra tights, but stupidly threw away my tights when I moved a few years back.
