Vuelta Wheels?
 

What is the general opinion of Vuelta wheels? I'm looking for a 10 speed wheelset for an Ironman conversion, and Vuelta seems to be in the low 100's with Shimano hubs.

I think most wheel makers have cheap wheels and a varying degree of better wheels. My opinion (and that's all that it is) is you get what you pay for.

I have the Corsa Superlights. Best weight/price ratio on the market (1460g/$350). Very solid wheels. If you were looking for something very cheap, I'd recommend the Forte Titan wheels at PB. $150 a set, 1850g. Bulletproof.

PB only has the front wheel, but it's OOS. I don't need a wheelset immediately, but I would like to have it soon at a decent price. I don't trust local CL for wheelsets. Plus, it seems my area doesn't have wheelsets for sale. Any other suggestions? I'm looking to spend 150 or less, shipped.

This looks like a good deal, but how much of a good deal am I getting for 175?

I rode a pair Corsa Pro's last year. They rode nice and I never had any problems with them, but they were a little on the heavy side at just over 2000 grams.

That's a pretty solid deal, but nothing too special. They are MP3 eligible for just a bit more.

I like how these Aksium's are super lightweight, but the bike I'm upgrading is a steel frame from 1987. I figure in the future, if I buy this wheelset, I could transfer them on?

I had a pair of Vuelta servesa corsa pro wheels. They looked sexy as hell espically at high speeds but its all in the decals. Id say they were worth it although if I did it again id also probably go with aksums, Id just want black.

I will note that the rear hub seemed to be kind of junky, I could feel the bearings or something inside rubbing after a few hundred miles. They got stolen along with my bike though so I cant attest to any long term wear.

They are a bit on the heavy side but never went out of true. Id say go for it.

Well, they are a solid training wheelset and come stock on some pretty nice bikes. I wouldn't call them super lightweight or worthy of too many bike transfers (but maybe).

I bought them. Hahaha, looks like my 10 speed upgrade is piecing together...

I am on my second set of Vueltas..first set is on my old steel frame and are the XRP Comps, a little heavy but have been bomb proof in over 8500 miles. The second set are on my new Colnago and are the Corsa Lites and weight in at 1580 g and so far have been really good in the @ 800 miles that is on them. Thinking of another set of there lighter wheels sometime in the near future

Vuelta Star -lites seemed bombproof and they looked good. Heavy though.
Prefer my Forte Titans for lightweight cheapness.
Open pros on Ultegra hubs feel great too.
Wish i could afford more.
