criteria:

-well made (duh)
-thin/minimal padding; thinner than new PI select preferred
-colors may include or mix the following: white, black, red
-short finger
-terry or other nose/sweat wiping material on thumb
-no performance brand gloves

I like full finger Mechanix Wear gloves. I think you can get them with short fingers, or just cut them to length.

I rock full-finger year around. Currently on the Six-Six-One gloves, black and white.

I love my Arc'teryx Gothic gloves, but it's warm enough to do without for the next several months.

I only have the long finger version of Knog gloves, but they are quite nice. Minimal, almost no padding, and I imagine the short finger gloves are as durable as the long finger versions. If you don't like the F- Off version, they have a few different ones like Love/Hate, 8-Ball, and Evel Knievel versions...

Thin and aero with minimal padding. I actually prefer full finger gloves year round, but these are nice for very light half finger gloves. They are tight and hard to get on and off, but that is part of why they are "aero"...

I have pairs of the older version which have more padding, probably a little thinner than the PI gel vent gloves.

While I haven't tried these, I have two other model Giro gloves which are very nice quality, and I wouldn't hesitate to try these if I didn't already have too many gloves.

I had a pair of PI gloves with pittard leather a few years ago. Wasn't at all impressed with the durability.

I am on my third pair of Giro Bravo gloves. I still have all three I just move them down a bike as they show wear. The Bravo has minimal, but some padding and the synthetic leather is comfortable as any real leather and incredibly durable.

Full finger mechanic type gloves at Menards $4 on sale so far they have lasted 2 years. Why on earth do you need to go anywhere else?

I also like full fingered gloves for temps up to about 70F. Like Fox Sidewinder. But in white, of course. PI is kinda crap.

I just ordered a pair of castelli s. rosso corsa. Any one tried these? Replacing a pair of PI Select gloves.

I just got a pair of Giro Zero gloves. These are the ones without any padding in them. Which makes sense, because I'm using them on my hands, which do. They also don't have an annoying velco strap, so at first you have to get used to squeezing into them and prying yourself out of them. But once they're on, they fit just like, er... They fit like a second skin. You really feel the bar. It's like you have a better connection to the bike.

I'm totally hooked. I'd been using the same padded gloves for six years, and hadn't ever given much thought to trying anything else. But from now on I won't use anything other than non-padded gloves.

I've been happy with Specialized gloves for years. I tried PI gloves, but the durability was horrible.

Yup, after a few years of padded gloves, I swapped to the pro pittards. They don't last forever, but they have a nice leather grip, a place to wipe your brow (or whatever), and no velcro. I'll be buying them again when the time comes.

In cold wheather I just want them to keep my hands warm and care about little else.

In summer I want them as light as possible. I wear gloves without pads for most of the year. Generally I do not need padding for comfort in my gloves.
