TISO Front Derailleur
I was wondering if anyone on here has used one of these. I was thinking about upgrading my FD on my S2. It is currently Sram Red, and works great, but I was considering the TISO unit to save some weight, and also everyone complains about Red FDs so I want to see if that is valid. It's either this or I might try a Campy SR 11 FD. I guess I am just bored, and I want to try something new.

Ask on WW. Someone there will have used it.
The new Red RD shifts very well and weighs the same as the one one. |
why not new sram red fd?
|
2012 Red FD also a possibility. This is lighter however. I like the cnc machined design too. It looks strong.

Add some drillium to your SRAM Red FD...

Never tried old Sram red, but the new one is just about perfect! I'll be testing Di2 next weekend so I'll see how it compares with that... granted this one is a lot lighter
|
I just ordered the new Sram Red one from the LBS. It is on backorder until the 25th, but I'll get it eventually.

Do it! I have new red and DA 7900 and prefer sram now!
DA definitely feels smoother and more refined, but (for me) shifting in the drops is easier with sram. |
Here is an interesting link about the new Red, and compatibility with other parts.
http://velonews.competitor.com/2012/...ibility_209270 Since I don't want the full group, because my crank/chainrings are much lighter, and my current Red RD is tuned down to 124g also much lighter. The best option appears to be all old Red with 2012 FD. I will probably buy a 2012 Cassette eventually too just to save a few grams. With 2012 Red out now older Red parts are now getting much cheaper. |
Soloist Assassin, you will like your new RED FD. Its really great stuff and I have it shift flawlessly on Rotor Q Rings! Still need to do some fine-tuning but almost all chain rub is gone.
|
Tiso has good stuff the problem is that is super expensive and at those prices better go with the real thing instead of trying aftermarket.

I had a shot at one of these but decided it wasn't worth the $150 price (and that was used). I've been using an older campy chorus FD I got down to 58g. Been in use almost 5 years now and flawless. The older campy FD's had clips to hold the pivot rods in- I picked up a tuning kit w/ the alu rods and used alu screws everywhere. I think the total cost (w/ all the tuning parts was less than $120, probably closer to $100.
