sounds like it. I would definitely ride it, and you're fortunate to have it available.
but if there really are cyclists every 500 feet, there's no practical way to do intervals or sprinting. you'll either be interrupting the interval so often as to eliminate the value or you'll be taking big risks to yourself and others.

I don't understand why people with ADHD are given a stimulant to help, but it does help. It allows me to concentrate, whereas when I don't put it on (often on the weekends), I am all over the place. The patch is methylphenidate.

Slow down.
In my experience, MUPS very greatly in their design and utilization. Some MUPS in urban areas it would be highly foolish to ride faster than 10 mph most of the time. Others that are lightly used can be ridden safely and enjoyably, particularly if you're prepared to stop where you can't see, or there are other users.

"You put a standard testosterone patch that is used for male hormone replacement therapy on your scrotum and leave it there for about six hours. The small dose is not sufficient to produce a positive urine result in the doping test, but the body actually recovers faster." --Dr. Kurt Moosburger

The guy was behind you, whats the problem?? In a matter of fact you should have learn something out of the guy... that probably he can handle bikes more than you do...
Not personal ok?. But many of these kids with ADHD, have a common factor IMO, "parents that did not have the balls to control the kids," and since science always find a good excuse, there u have it... pills. patches and everyody around has to understand bad behavior or simply craziness.
IMO when these kids get old enough to say everybody "im adhd" doesnt cut it as excuse for impulsive behavior or bad temper.
Back in my time we had hyper kids, but parents kept them well controlled as well...
Relax dude... life is short

I am going to put it like this: I am not ADHD, but I know several family members a generation older then me that while they have never been diagnosed, definitely ARE ADHD. What you are saying is sort of the same thing as saying dyslexia is not real, and that "Kids just need to learn to read".
Just because the diagnosis wasn't part of your up-bringing doesnt mean it doesn't exist. Life isn't road cycling, some things just dont fall to HTFU. Primary example here is the fact that stimulants actually do reverse the condition. A regular person taking Ritalin (Speed) becomes more erratic, a person with clinical ADHD taking Ritalin becomes becomes less erratic.
OP: If he was able to drop you, and he didn't cause a crash, no whining. Next time just turn that Wattage dial up a bit.

IMHO, it's not that ADHD doesn't exist, but there are many parents today that use it as an excuse to not parent. I have some friends that say they have been consistent with the discipline of their children, but honestly never were. They were too concerned with being a friend and never played parent. So, now that the kids don't know how to obey or behave well in public, they're diagnosed with ADHD and medicated. It's really sad. I think this happens a lot, which shines a bad light for those who truly do have ADHD. There is a big difference.
As far as the OP, just yell out "fire in the hole" and release the mustard gas. I'd back off if I were him!

this thread is heading for trollheim but I'll give it a shove.
my 5 year-old son has 2 classmates at pre-school who are already diagnosed as ADHD. they are seriously ill-behaved kids. however through a variety of afterschool endeavors such as sports, birthday parties, etc I have seen some parenting in action.
yeah.
those kids *might* have a neurological or chemical issue contributing to their behavior. it is possible, I am not a doctor.
but I'm a parent, and I'm damn positive what their parents do is not sufficient to correct the behavior. nuff said.
btw the OP is not 5. he's like 16 or 17. so he's either got a real medical issue or his parents done f'd up long ago.

And yes, my parents implement a great deal of discipline. My problem is not ill-behavior, it's just not being able to stay concentrated very easily. BTW, I am indeed 16.

Hey OP I am a Denverite and I ride the MUP all the time. I prefer it to road riding for the following reasons:
1. No cars
2. Few stops
3. Some areas are bicycle or roller blades only (Downtown to Cherry creek has sections like this)
4. If I have to stop for a flat or something there are always cyclists who will stop and ask if all is well or if help is needed.
As for peds and dog walkers most here actually pay attention because so many cyclists use the mups. In the 500 or so miles I have put in the mups this year only a handful of times did the zombies force me to slow down below 10mph to pass. I typically ride between 18-23mph on the mup and by yelling "On the left" people instinctively move to their right for me to pass.

I don't understand why people don't tell (or yell) at other riders who do this sort of thing. If they are riding too close for comfort for a significant distance, tell them where to go. No point in whinging about it after the fact.

I'm generally a pretty quiet and reserved person, so I often hesitate to assert myself or yell at people. Sometimes, I realize how stupid people are, so I unleash myself and yell at them. Just last week, I was coming down a hill where the trail starts to go under Speer (sort of a blind curve), and this pair of cyclists was passing a group of about 4 cyclists. They were in my lane and instead of braking and falling back behind the other group until after I passed, they accelerated and when they realized they couldn't get to the front, they cut into the group. They were yelling "left, left, left! Get over! Get over!" at eachother. I had to slow down from about 25mph to about 10mph in 75ft What a bunch of idiots. Also a couple weeks ago, I was going down the hill under Cherry Street. There was a jogger on my right and a jogger on the far left (going the opposite direction). There was only enough space for me, going about 20mph, but a group of cyclists decided it would be a good idea to cut into that space to pass the jogger. They bailed at the last second, but again, I had to rapidly decelerate. Both times, I yelled at the top of my lungs "DON'T DO THAT!!" I kinda wish I said "WHAT THE **** ARE YOU DOING!?"

Bad luck about the ADHD by the way. You never grow out of it, but you grow into it. It gets easier.

I wish there were universal rules of etiquette for mups, but it's never going to happen. Casual recreational riders believe that the rules posted on the sign at the trail head are exhaustive, exclusive and inviolate and likely always will. There will always be guys going for personal bests on their mtn bikes or hybrids who won't slow down no matter what, and other guys training on road bikes in groups with all that entails.
I like my local MUP and I admit I go too fast, but rationally. Since the two-city connection was completed four years ago I've ridden it end to end probably more times than any other person alive and I automatically slow down at certain problematic points because stupidity and even random risk taking forms a pattern. It cannot be eliminated and I refuse to allow myself to get worked up about it. But if there is one universal rule which does need to be applied and enforced, and this one is posted but generally ignored, it is if you want to push yourself whatever your level is, take it off the MUP!
