Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

2003 Fuji League 52cm an ok buy for me?

Hi,

I am trying to get into cycling, and would like a good starter bike. I have someone who wants to trade me this bike for a phone I have, so about 180-200 dollar value.

Can't find much info about this bike online, wondering if its a good trade, and if 52cm is ok. I am about 5'10, with about 31.5" inch inseam when measured for a bike (30" pant inseam). I know I should ride it, all bikes are different, etc, but the rims are not on the bike as of now. Just wondering if anyone has had this bike or a similar fuji and could comment on the size and value (PS, i know about the downtube shifters ) Thanks!

Original list: $359

If all you have to do is put air in the tires and ride away, I'd shoot for $125-$150. Since this was an inexpensive, low-end bike when it was new nine years ago it is probably not worth putting any additional money into it.

You might be OK on a 52cm ... or it might be too small. Only one way to find out (once it has wheels on it).

Sounds too small, but try a fit calculator online. For reference I am 5'10" and ride a 56cm, depending on the frame I could probably ride a 54cm, but when I get on my buddies 52cm, it's way too small.

im 5'9" and i ride a 50cm fuji.

the top tube is what matters more as i was told. so, eventhough my bike is 50cm frame size, its top tube is 54.5cm and i fit fine on it with a 110mm stem.
