Water Bottles, Why?

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

While some components are needed, others are simply "too new" and "untested" as far as I'm concerned. An example? I'll give you two:

1) Front derailleur - unneeded, simply a ploy creating by marketing geeks to increase profit. Solution, reach down and flick the chain with your finger.

2) Pneumatic tires - who came up with this joke? And their spokemen is the marshmallow man from Ghostbusters..? puhlease. Rivendell is coming out with a sweet set of wooden tires in '06.

Oh brother. I will continue to take my bottles along on rides and not think too much about it.
