Fastest Speed you've ever gone?
I was going down a long downhill slant straightaway (its like this for about half a mile). I put my machine into the heaviest gear, tucked into my aero's, and held on for dear life. Max was 38.9 mph that day. I haven't gotten close to that in a while.

I did 39.4 mph this last week on a down hill and have done over 42 mph on one local decent.

45 mph with a tailwind and trucks passing me. I thought about drafting off a big rig, but pulling into traffic scared me a bit.

46 coming down palomar mountain. might have even gone faster, but the road is so twisty that it's difficult to make yourself look down at your computer sometimes. and those damned cattle grates. "BZZZZT!!!"

How many times has this thread been done? This has to be the fifth in the last year.
Anyway, I did 52 once. I also did 350 last month on my way home from L.A.

Not sure but in the smokey mountains nobody passed me on one hill it felt like a big hand had a hold of me and it took forever to turn. Oh and that bike frame broke when I reached Orlando a 1980 schwinn traveler. Now that I'm older and wiser I keep my speed down to 30 mph.

I assumed this thread had already been posted, but I figured we needed an ego booster after that whole cycling short ordeal.

I've hit 56 or 57 mph out near State College, PA. I forget which it was exactly, I just remember that it was over 55 mph... in a 35 zone. Kind of a "Darwin Award" waiting to happen. Such was college life.

56 mph on Oakville grade in the first half of the Terrible Two.
I've heard stories of tandems reaching 65+ at altitude... less air resistance.
