Folding vs. WireBead

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Folding vs. WireBead

Whats the advantage of folding vs wire bead tires? Why do folding tires always cost more/Are folding tires worth the extra money?

Folding tires weigh less and are easier to carry as they're foldable. Some claim one or the other is easier to mount. I think that may depend on the brand and rims.

If you don't carry spare tires like I do, it just boils down to price and weight.

I can tell you, without a doubt...folding are a little harder to mount! (at least on my rims)

I can tell you without a doubt that folding tires are a LOT easier to mount. ;-) I've never needed tire levers for any folding tire I've used, but have on my wire-beads.

I may be wrong, but it seems to me that the selection for wire bead isn't very good these days. The better-quality tires are mostly if not all folding.
