Scott Foil Seatpost clamp
Anyone know if Scott fixed the seat post clamp issue for the 2012 bikes? I heard there was an issue of it cracking when torqued to the recommended pressure.

My contact at Scott says they never had a seatpost clamp issue except for some "cosmetic cracking" that might occur when over torquing the bolt.
But, that is likely the standard PR line they are giving out regarding the issue. But nobody has confirmed on the newer frames whether anything has changed with the design.
I would think plenty of carbon paste and some other techniques to ensure a good grip on the post, so you don't need to torque it so much, is fine.

I just posted pics of my scott foil on the hot or not a couple days ago and talked a little of my issues with the seatpost slipping; yes, my seatpost did slip (about 1cm after every 50miles or so of riding)..., and it was one of the newer re-worked frames (from what i know they added a surface treatment to the seatpost where it interfaces with the locking mechanism); I took it back to the shop for them to try to address the issue (scott info was to torque the clamp to 12Nm, which seems high, and since i don't have a torque wrench, i wanted them to do it); LBS confirmed carbon paste was used and additionally, LBS took the clamp mechanism (screw, 3 "bushings") apart, greased their inner surfaces, and sanded/scuffed the face of the concave bushing that actually holds the seatpost in place...then put it back altogether, and put 12Nm; from all the internet searching i could find, this seems to have taken care of the issue with other foils; the only issue is that the process of the seatpost slipping caused the finish to scrape off the back of the seatpost, so they will replace it for me, but they want to make sure that the issue is fixed before they do that; in regards to the actual frame cracking from over-torquing, the LBS looking at the system doubts that it would crack the frame with overtorquing it (scott has the diagram of how the system works internally, which is....well, different), but wouldn't put more than 12Nm into it;
now, i am pretty large (6'-3" - 190lbs), so i would assume that an average sized cyclist wouldn't have any issues after their "fix" - I got the bike back yesterday, so haven't had a chance to try it out yet, but certainly hope the issue has been taking care of...will update here in the next couple of days...
bummer too, 'cause i am absolutely loving the bike, and would recommend to anyone who wants to try the aero feel but loves stiff frames...test rode quite a few other bikes, and this one just felt perfect for me...

I heard that the posts were slipping if not torqued all the way and some were cracking if torqued properly. It may be cosmetic, but that would still suck after dropping $3k on a frameset. Thinking about retiring my 06 CR1 Team Issue and giving the Foil some consideration.

Now the price is up to $3199 for the premium, team models.
Pretty much the reason ive avoided it also. Too many cacking and strange issues that Scott wont address responsibly seemingly.
