Fix a Flat for Bikes
 

I am trying to find this product, an aerosole which inflates your tire and seals small puntures at the same time. No tire changing required. It got me up and running and I was able to ride over ten miles to my local bike shop for a change. Like fix a flat for cars, but smaller. Worked great last time I used it. I can't seem to find it. Does anyone have any suggestions? The name of the product may not be as titled, but that is what it does. Thanks for any help!

Vittoria Pitstop or the version from Geax. Both are good, though will really only seal a very small puncture. Since you're training on tubulars, you might setup a second set of tubular wheels and put sealant in the tubies as a preventative.

And your wrench might hate you forever, or charge you double. :)

I hate whatever the green stuff is....makes for a disgusting mess when you go to make the repair.

inject caffee latex sealant into your tubes before you get a flat. ride your bike at least every few days to avoid latex clotting.

I would much rather just carry a tube and a tire lever, but that's me... Once you learn how to efficiently change a tube, you will no longer even look at products like these.

true. I actually use mr tuffy liners, and I've not had a puncture ever since installing them a few thousand miles ago. my wife had a pinch flat about 600 miles ago, maybe sealant would've worked for that.

Learn how to change a tube. You'll save yourself the shame of having to go to your LBS to have a flat fixed.

Going to your bike shop to change a flat is like getting "full serve" for your car's gas.

Just DIY. It's not rocket science. Even a klutz like me can do it.

I taught my father how to change tubes, and took the front tire off my bike and practiced before I even rode for the first time. :) Piece of cake.

Well he must be using tubulars; nobody would use that on regular tubed clinchers unless they were racing and used it in an emergency.

Sealant won't remove whatever caused your tire to go flat (glass, wires, etc). Nor will it help with cuts. It will make your tires heavier and possibly mess up your pump.

I am training on clinchers. Yes, I am really a "Try" Athlete with the emphasis on try. I have done some sprint triathlons and one olympic. The bike on which I recently flatted was a 12 year old Specialized Crossroads with baskets front and back. Not too racy! Right now, I am training for Ragbrai. For Ragbrai I will ride my Giant OCR 1, but I like training on the heavier bike sometimes to build up strength. And yea, I know I need to change my tire. Did it once and the thing blew right away anyway. And I don't like to break a nail.
