Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I'm hoping these will be the last set of tires i buy for a long while. I've spent more than i want to admit experimenting with tires.

Had the same problem last year, ended up using paypal. So far so good.

After my current set wears out....I'll get them if I have the money. How long does a set usually last(I weigh 118lbs)? After 2,700 miles the threads on my $15 tires are almost starting to show.

before the GP4kS... my go to tire was hutchinson atoms. they're cheap, roll great, lightweight. BUT there is no durability.

the GP4kS seems to roll almost as good as the hutchinson atoms but has the added durability. it is heavier though but im only a minor weight weenie so im fine with that.

most people say it last them 4000 miles. im hoping i get that as well. the GP4kS also has a tread indicator.

Just need to be careful. For some reason the GP4ks on my race bike have dried out after a couple years. Yes the bike does live in the garage, also I live near the ocean so that may help(hurt). But they are cracking along the sidewalls so I have decided to toss them. I bought these and I guess maybe in the winter I'll keep my tires inside or something (seems ridiculous).

i have close to 5000 miles on my current set. The front still looks ok, but the rear is looking like it will need replaced soon. I have had incredible luck with these tires. BTW, I am 155 lbs.

I'd like to order some tires from PBK or Ribble; very good prices. Noticed that they are both in the UK. Any issues with shipping to the USA (how long?) or using a credit/debit card from a major US bank?

Thanks

$151.27 (~$37.82 each tire) w/ bicycling10 coupon
Or $142.87 w/multibuy4 coupon.

$35.72 a tire. That's a good deal.

I had a problem with using my credit card so i switched to PayPal. The card was declined three times because it was an international order.

Got a pair of the London special Durano Plus for £35 ish shipped from Ribble. Now that's value.

I've also stocked up on GP4000Ss from Ribble too. Great price for an even better tyre.

I just got a pair from Ribble. Paid with ebay. Got the tires in just over a week. No duty issues at all.

Not good news. My apartment is built on stilts over Puget Sound (salt water) and I've had four GPs in the closet, plus the ones actually on the bike, since last year. I'll have to check on them later.

If you store them in a zip lock bag and keep them out of the light they will last a long long time.

I didn't have any problems with CC purchase. I got them in 5 business days shipped to Wisconsin from PBK (haven't tried Ribble yet). Shipping is usually free at PBK, but I think Ribble has a minimum order amount before you get free shipping.

After a couple of years? Good problem to have in my book. These things do last quite a long time, so I could see a bike you don't ride as much having them last a while.

I bought a bunch and put them up. I've got to figure a year or two on a shelf will be fine, but who knows.

The reason it concerned me is I have a set of cheap Michelins that I use as trainer tires that are twice as old and are in the same spot, and they are fine. Now admittedly my triathlon tires get wet, they get salt water on them, etc. But it still seemed like a short time for them to last.

That said I still bought a set of these because they are still awesome when they arent rotten!

I find the 23c's expand in size to 25's. A nice benefit.

Seems like the new cool thing to do is 25s with ~10PSI lower pressure than you'd run on 23s.
