New Madone 7

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Meh...I'd rather be riding any of my bikes.

And AS on the cover picture makes the bike even less attractive to me....

Don't forget the "defense grade" carbon exclusively available to Trek. Brilliant.

Not available from the factory on every bike, but yes, it will be an option on most higher end bikes. My point was it shows on the Project One build, so those interested can see the cost effect if so inclined. It was too much to put in from the iPhone, however.

I dig it. Now I just need a 5'6" well-to-do-gotta-have-it-first-type have a mid-life crisis to then list it on C/L 6 months later for pennies on the dollar.

Dont knock it until you ride it. Both the new Madone (in the 7/6/5 series, and the new kamtail tubes on the 2 series) are frick'n awesome bikes! Feel is great, acceleration is spot on, and the bikes handle like a dream.

The new Domanes in all series are amazing as well.

Seriously, give them a month to stock up in bike shops and go ride one.

Chris

Yeah, I chuckled at that too. Defense Grade carbon fiber : the new laterally stiff & vertically compliant. Makes it sound like it can take a direct hit from either an M8 tank or distracted driver without being disabled. Available with matching lightweight body armor kit?

The hate for Trek, or any given brand for that matter, is interesting. With Shimano, Campy or SRAM providing the majority drivetrain components for most brands, it seems opinions must be formed based on paint scheme/logos and frame design.

So one doesn't like the color or logo placement? Or is it preferable to have a partial series drivetrain with a mix of lesser series components to save money (like Force brakes on the Specialized Tarmac Pro Red) or FSA cranks mixed in? What makes one brand despised and another loved?

I don't hate Treks. My wife owns a Trek Madone 5.1 WSD and it is a nice bike...but that's it.

Treks do nothing for me...I rather ride any of my bikes than ride any Trek.

It is not hatred...they are just plain vanilla for me.
