Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

looking at bikes.first time

hello everyone, i have been browsing around the net and i have came down to a few bikes i would really like some help on choosing which one or what are some good options. this will be my first bike i have been wanting to get in cycling for a while finally a good amount of money to do so... im looking at the cervelo r3 sram rival this is my first choice then their is the pinarello quattro sram force which is second and last is cannondale supersix 3, i also have seen a post or two saying get a cheaper bike so you can get some better wheels.. i love the cervelo r3 but i seen a website that has the bob pinarello for 3000. all info appreciated

Go test ride them and figure out what you like. At that price point they're all going to be great. Really though, why not get something less expensive for your first bike to make sure you actually like it?

As long as you buy a modern road bike at pretty much any pricepoint your progress level is not going to pass it. I started out on a 10 year old used Trek and then upgraded to a very nice, newer and fairly expensive bike and my performance gains were negligible.

I second the looking at bikes that are a little less expensive and make sure you can test ride it preferably at a bike store where you can also ask questions.

For your first car did you buy an Indy Race Car?

One needs to be top riding condition to enjoy the bikes you listed.

Find a good bike shop, get a fitting (Retul or similar), with the amount of money your looking to spend, would hope they would give this to you FOC if you buy the bike from them, test ride, and choose the one which you like most.
