Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Well, I Took the Plunge

I dropped by the LBS after work and put down a deposit on the Klein rêve V I've been lusting after. I scheduled a fitting for Saturday, and they're getting my custom wheels together. Let's hope for some decent weather next weekend.

I knew it was going to be the Klein. The paint job gets them every time.

Nice but what the hell is SPA suspension technology? I don't know but with close to 2G I would expect to see some Ultegra components.

Components aren't the only thing that make a good bike.

If I were to make an analogy to computers, Klein is to Apple as Fuji is to Dell. The Dells have very impressive specs, but not the same attention to detail, fit and finish, seamless integration, and overall quality and style as Apple's computers. I love my G5 Power Mac, and it was worth every penny, even if it doesn't have as fast a processor, as big a hard drive, or as tricked-out a graphics card as a Dell. The Klein was the best ride, the most comfortable, and the sharpest looking of anything in my price range.

Great pic, honestly I don't think you could have gone wrong unless you felt that you were compromising by picking a bike that wasn't up to snuff with one of the others you rode. You did the right thing by spending a little more and getting the bike you wanted...it WILL save you money in the long run. I bought a bike in mid Sept and wanted more bike but felt I couldn't afford it, 3 months later I bought a bike at the level I originally wanted and took a big loss on the original bike thus costing me more than it would have otherwise. But hey someone else got a good deal on my slightly used bike and I now have the bike I want so it all works out in the end.

Any power loss(when mashing hard) as a result of the suspension?

Funny thing about Klein is that they don't seem to do alot of advertising. I don't see many jersey's, shorts, socks etc... with Klein on them. At least here in Canada there isn't.

True about jerseys with Klein being on the rare side. I did get a Jittery Joe's jersey that has Klein on the shoulders, as they are a sponser.
