can i still ride with a bruised ankle?

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

can i still ride with a bruised ankle?

I have a weird bruise, probably from running. Should it heal faster if I don't ride? At times, it's hard to get the full power on the downstroke.

If you are inured and there is pain when you ride, then no, do yourself a favor and RICE that ankle.

You might be able to pedal softly and not feel pain, but you could be aggravating an injury... Take it from someone with a bad knee. I "Played through the pain" when I was younger and regret it now. Heal right, and your body will last a lot longer...

Go do pushup and sit-ups while you wait. lol.

Wouldn't think a bruise would be aggravated by cycling. when I develop overuse injuries from running (left leg is ~1/2" shorter), I put in more miles on the bike. Speeds up the healing.

every injury is different. i had a severe sprain in january that required 3 months of therapy. I was told that riding was a huge help in my healing. My ankle turned dark black and blue, and swelled up daily. The exercises I did in therapy combined with riding got me back to 95% of normal. It was the sprain that sparked my interest in riding. now im hooked for life!!

I rode with a sprained ankle once. Everything was great till I realized I couldn't unclip that foot because I couldn't turn my ankle. Thought I was going to have to call for help

its probably fine if you just take it easy and stay in the saddle. don't do any tom boonen imitations for awhile.

I'd love to know how to do this?

Pain from running made me into an avid cyclist.
I agree with pdxtex, no mashing out of the saddle!
