Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Advice on bike size

Hey guys!

I'm going to try this bike out tomorrow and I'm not sure about the size.. It's a 58 size 2009 model - https://2009.fujibikes.com/Road/Perfo...oubaixPro.aspx According to the geometry table size 58 means a 56cm long seat and a 56cm long top tube. I am 183cm which is, I guess, 6' and my inseam is 82-3cms which is around 32,5". This is going to be my first road bike so I can't tell if it fits or not because I'm not sure how it should feel. Can you give me some advice? I think the bike is a good deal at $600 with a cyclocomputer, pulsometer (not sure if it's called that way) watch and bottle cages so I can live with the fact that it's not the perfect fit. I can also change the stem and so on. I mean how bad will it be if it's one size up or down? Thank you!

EDIT: Just read that the table on the website is off so the tubes are actually 58cm

-Boris

I have similar measurements to you and I personally ride 56cm. It was between a 56 and a 58 when I've bought my bikes but I feel more comfortable on the 56.

Others will feel better on the 58. You'll have to ride and see how it feels....make sure you don't feel too stretched out, but realistically you should be able to make it fit after wards if you need to.

As for value of the deal....not sure of original MRSP of the fuji so I can't help there at all.

Thanks a lot! Well the MSRP is $1,600 so it's probably a good deal I think that the 56 will be better as well but I guess if I change the stem to a 90mm it will be ok, right?
