Gloves

What kinda gloves does everyone use? Full finger / half finger....padding, no padding?

milkbaby 07-08-12 06:45 PM

Yes!

All those types, but I prefer full finger with no to minimal padding. Many people also prefer no gloves. Ehhhh, it's a personal thing...

All of the above, it just depends on the weather. I'm currently using these, and they're great for hot weather, they breath really well for 80+ degree days

dark_energy 07-08-12 07:19 PM

I've been wearing and liking these during the heat wave.

I don't really like the way they look, but they're so functional, comfortable and inexpensive. (less than 10 dollars at performance). And my nose runs a lot when I ride and these gloves have a lot of terry cloth.

JIB 07-08-12 09:56 PM

My favorites. They're like one giant snotwipe!

Louis Garneau Vent Flex, it's half-finger, padded pretty well and vented to keep your hands cool in the heat. Works great for me and pretty cheap online.

^ Dude, that's nasty!

slowandsteady 07-10-12 10:14 AM

Half finger in the summer. Full finger in the fall and spring. Lobster gloves for the winter.

BoSoxYacht 07-10-12 10:18 AM

Half-finger, no padding, no velcro(Giro Zeros).

ahsposo 07-10-12 10:19 AM

I'm a big fan of the Giro Bravo gloves.

Half finger, minimal padding but some, and a wonderful, long wearing synthetic leather body.

Black.

ChrisM2097 07-10-12 10:59 AM

I only use these:

I may pick up a pair of full-finger gloves for winter riding...but it really doesn't get all that cold around here.

Hiro11 07-10-12 11:15 AM

Half finger, light to no padding. I only use gloves because my hands start to slip if they get sweaty.

FrankHudson 07-10-12 11:34 AM

I've used the Nashbar string back gloves since the early 80s for warm weather riding. Easy on and off and they feel fine in hot weather. They wear out fast even in my current lower miles, but they're cheap to replace.

When it gets cooler I use a pair of leather front, blaze orange gloves from a hunting goods supply store.

When I rode in real cold weather, I used a set of leather mittens.

dramiscram 07-10-12 11:46 AM

I ride with those :http://www.harbingerfitness.com/cgi-...Z.cgi?143&&sku
But when I'm viciously rich I'll get those :http://www.dromarti.com/index.php?ma...products_id=27

pablosnazzy 07-10-12 12:05 PM

full finger with padding

PinkBabyMonster 07-10-12 12:58 PM

Full finger, all the time. I've never had a problem with my hands getting "too hot". Plus, I want all the protection I can have for my fingertips; I need them too much.

mmmdonuts 07-10-12 01:15 PM

Half-finger, minimal to no padding if I can find it. Usually PI gloves with synthetic leather palms that I can throw in the wash when they begin to smell.

I would like to try full-finger gloves but haven't found any that I like though I'm not looking all that hard.

^^^ that's a nasty zombie thumb.

muu 07-10-12 01:30 PM

full fingered spenco cycling gloves. For some reason prices shoot up once you go half-fingered.

elcruxio 07-10-12 01:39 PM

Mechanics full finger gloves. Best for cycling, outdoor work, wrestling with bad guys, shooting, cold weather (suprisingly warm even when wet) etc.

caloso 07-10-12 01:40 PM

I usually go barehanded in summer. I'll wear unpadded gloves in races. My current favorites are PI.

My cool weather gloves are Mechanix. Just as you say, best I've found. If they only had a snot-wiping pad, they'd be perfect.

Jaymadd 07-10-12 01:42 PM

I'm surprised at how many people use full finger gloves year round. My hands get hot with half finger in the summer time.

roby 07-10-12 01:52 PM

Specialized BG Radiator. So much better since I've switched to full fingers. 35degrees outside, and my hands are lovely. Better than having sweaty fingers that slip on the shifters or brakes IMO. I rode once with no gloves this summer and I found it very sketchy. My hands would practically slide on my bars.
