Did i damage my cassette?
I tried swaping my cassette today...bought the cassette changing tool, but thought i could get away without the chain whip...now i feel so stupid, such a simple/cheap tool!!
Tryed an old chain -no leverage..
Tryed a towel - not enough.. and felt dangerous
AND THE GREAT IDEA!!
a pressure wrench... I tryed to clamp it to the cassette, but the thing was spat out a couple of times!! DAMN IT! using the wrong tool! Now im worried i may have damaged my cassettes tooths! ARGGGG

Yeah, $ for a new cassette >> $ for a chain whip.
Having said that, if you can run through the gears when the bike is in the stand without the chain skipping or complaining you might have got away with it. I would be surprised if you didn't cause any damage though. GL.

Why don't you clean off the cassette and inspect the teeth? You can see if any are badly damaged. You can test it on the stand but sometimes a worn cassette will skip under load. A damaged cassette might do the same. If it looks ok, ride it and see.
Having spent a lot of time bodging tools together when I was a high school student with a motorcycle, I learned that it's usually cheaper and always takes less time to buy the proper tool.

Correrct!
I did inspect it.. It didnt seem damaged... But i cant fine tune the shifting... Im gonna take it in to the mechanic so he can inspect it... A friend will lend me another cassette for the weekend...IN SO MAD AT MYSELF! Now i have to spend 10x more on a new cassette and trash a nice 11-32!!

If it makes you feel any better, I HAVE a chainwhip, and it took me a while just to figure out how to use the damn thing. I had it in a few different configurations before I said "oh! That's how it works. Duh!"

This is an example of why I pay the bike shop to do it. (But if I buy the cassette from them, they don't charge for the work.)

Cassettes are pretty tough. Yours is probably fine. If you gouged a tooth or 2, just sand down the rough spots. An emery board for fingernails might be convenient.

Anyway, I had a cassette that had some teeth broken off somehow. Never even noticed it while riding, either. If a couple are bent, just break 'em.

UPDATE!:
It seems im and overreacting whimp...
my mechanic cleaned and checked the cassette, and tells me its fine! He tells me this things are pretty tough and i would need a lot more than what i did to damage the cassette.

I just changed two cassettes last night with an old piece of chain and locking pliers as a chain whip. Only thing I could have damaged was the old chain, which I don't care about.
