(another) SIDI sizing question

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

(another) SIDI sizing question

Hi,

I found a cheap place to buy SIDI ergo 2's, but only available in sizes 44 and 45. Since I bought a pair of shoes recently that didn't fit I'm extra cautious about the size. The SIDI zephyr's that I bought are 45 and when my foot is in I can easily put my thumb in too, so I'd say they're too big. However, I've tried size 44 once and the felt a bit tight (my big toe was almost touching the shoe).

Any thoughts on this? I'm mainly asking cause I'm not sure if returning would be easy and I'm having trouble getting rid of the Zephyr's...

Thanks a lot!
