Should I get this Six13???

Hey-

Ok... there is a Six13 on clearance at a bike shop 'round here.

It's $3,500 for-

Full Dura-Ace
Mavic SSL ksyriums
FSA k-wing bars
USE Alien post
Team replica Fysik Arione

Should I try to dump my Trek and go for it? I'm going to go test it in a few hours.

The_Convert 01-13-05 03:45 PM

in fact, it is this one exactly except with Dura Ace instead of the Hollwgram/ Record mix (which I would prefer).

Well, if I were spending $3500 and was inclined to buy campy then that's what I'd get. No need to settle with that kind of cash at stake (not that Dura-ace is bad, it's just not your first choice).

nope. I'd keep the trek. you wont get 3500 for the trek, and its in fine shape (I'm assuming)...so you'd only be losing money on a bike that is equivalent to the one you have. wait 2 years, then buy a new bike.

Chucklehead 01-13-05 04:27 PM

but he gets a discount.

...or his parents do.

Why do you want a Six13?.....I bought the frame, but it's only cuz it got it dirt dirt cheap. The damn thing has f**** aluminum in it. I was originally aiming for a pure CF frame.....but I couldn't pass up a good deal. Besides I'll just sell it in a couple of years and get all my money back.....that was my reasoning. You want to trade frames? I got a size 60 here in mint condition.

ajst2duk 01-13-05 05:51 PM

yes

slvoid 01-13-05 06:15 PM

Should you? My answer would be: Yno.

pearcem 01-13-05 06:31 PM

believe it or not, aluminum isn't evil. 53-11 may think so, and i'm not saying it isn't his right to, but ultimately, you need to ride it and see if it feels right. if you liek it enough, and you can do it $ wise, then spend the money and get the bike you want. i promsie it'll be more fun to buy the new bike :)

AL dies. GG in that case.

In a heartbeat! Absolutely

I jst got a six13 and its great. Its not the most comfy frame but for races its a good choice.

If comfort is an issue, get a pair of cheap wheels, mount some 25mm tires on them, inflate them to 90-100 psi, and use them for long training rides. Frames stiffness (or lack of stiffness) does virtually nothing to take out road vibration. Let your tires to the work, not the frame.

Probaby very similar to a Trek. If I had those components, I'd sell the Alien post right away. It's too flimsy and hard to adjust. I have a Thompson Masterpiece post, which is almost as light.

Is that the Six13 over at the Performance store on Arapahoe? Just out of curiousity.....

livestrong91 01-15-05 09:20 AM

Yes. I would kill for that bike... And I think I will... Mwahahahahaha!!!
