Gator Up!

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Gator Up!

Well, okay, we didn't call that out on the club ride Saturday morning, the way we do with cars and such. But we could have, since we had gators cross the road in front of us on three separate occasions. They were just little guys, three-four feet long.

Gotta love living in south Louisiana!

Nice. I have had a "sheep up" call and a "bull up" call so far this year. Last year I had a few "chicken ups", two "horse ups", and one "bear up". I love riding in the country.

Oh yeah, unwritten rule time. Bears do get right of way.

turkey, vulture, deer, bobcat, dog, snake and turtle here...no gators yet although I do ride through a gator habitat at least twice a week. My buddy ran into some boar and got real scared, luckily they ran off....they scare me too.

I was so close to a skunk this evening I could hear its nails on the pavement and it also made a chirping noise as it ran. And I have poor hearing. It was close!

Roadkill gator = nasty!

Around here we have a problem with tame families of sand hill cranes. They stand right in the road/bike paths and do not move, making it necessary to dodge them. For those unfamiliar, they are NOT small birds. They stand ~ 2.5 feet tall. Have to love Florida wildlife.
