Need advice on a purchase

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Need advice on a purchase

just getting into riding for the fitness aspect and I am currently riding a 80s something schwinn world sport and am ready to upgrade and looking for advice. I found a 2009 Trek 1.5 in excellent condition with little outdoor use, i think I can buy it for $500 and am wondering if its a good deal.It is a 56 cm. I am 5'9" and 190lbs.What do you guys think.
This is all I am willing to spend at this time.I have also found a 2006 Specialized Sequoa Elite that a guy want $475 for. Would either bike be better than the other? Thanks

56cm may be a little big for you depending on your inseam. That trek is probably going to have a stand over height of just over 31 inches

The bike isn't too big? I'm 5'9'' as well w/ a 30.5'' inseam and I ride 52-54cm bikes depending on manufacturer. Do you feel too stretched out on your bike? It's not a good buy if the bike doesn't fit...

It is actually a 58 cm but it fits me fine i think. Its comfortable when I ride so it should be good.I probably have a inch to inch an a half clearance when i straddle it
