Part Compatibility Question

I'm working on a my first road build and my friend offered me a full 105 5500 groupset. So far I only have a 105 5700 crank, FD, and RD will I have any compatibility issue putting these together?

Sorry if this is a dumb question I come from a Fixed gear/Track racing background and have no idea about things like this.

I THOUGHT that the lever pull was adjusted from 5600 to 5700 so the brakes are "incompatible", but that may have been Ultegra 6600 to 6700. I believe the shifters and derailleurs will play nicely together just fine, but I'm no mechanic.

Mr. Google suggests that 5500 was 9 speed, new stuff is 10. So use a 9 speed cassette, shifters, maybe FD. 5500 cranks were octalink, so use your new crank (with external BB that you may need to buy). Use your new RD fine. I would try your new FD, and only use the old one if there are issues.

Brakes are an issue only with 5700 shifters and brakes, neither of which you report. Use the brakes with the groupset, or get 5600, SRAM rival, or Tektro brakes. No issues with the 5500 levers.
