Hello everybody.... and here is my bike.
Hi FNG here.. anyway im Elliot. Started cycling a few months ago... and im in the military. korea right now back in texas the land of fishing and hunting soon. Thank the powers that be.
so here is my bike cannondale synapse 7 54cm. with Sora shifting system. im rather fond of the little thumb shifter...
Upgrades... aerobars and SPD clip in petals and a speedometer. yes yes and for you purist i just prefer the aerobars over none... prob a bad habit to get into if i plan on racing. i recently did a triathlon that was crazy. ....... but they are so comfortable
i have a question. most road bikes seem to have only two front gears.... this one has three is there an advantage to this... i never use the small gear???

The tiny one is for getting the weak and the old uphill. There is not too much drawback to it, except it adds weight and might slow down shifting a hair. Definitely not worth swapping out unless it's not working right. Or you get a serious attack of upgraditis.

well i know its for steep hills.... so i guess its really not needed eh? i was very close to dropping another 300$ to upgrade to a CAAD but thought this bike should be sufficient enough for a beginner.

Nice bike. Add white bottle cages (and white bartape when the time comes to replace).
Once you use normal dual-lever shifters or SRAM double-tap, you won't like that thumb shifter anymore, but it'll be fine for now.

Well, if you move back to Texas you probably won't need a triple up front, but if you moved to the Rockies... different story. If you don't need it, don't use it.

If you ever encounter category 2 or 1 climbs, you will really appreciate for that little extra gear.
Anyway ride hard, and when something breaks, upgrade them.

well i already added SPD pedals and i added red bottle cages (all they had that and blue yuk) and .... i was actually thinking white tape would look better than black

White bar tape will look great...up until the third ride. If you don't have money to constantly replace it, don't go to it. Get's nasty as hell and looks bad. The black does too, but you can't see it.
