Addiction - August 2012 addition

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Aw man, I was just there two weeks ago. Didn't know about the air show, would have tried to stick around if I knew about it.

Damn, I love air shows!

I went to the post office today to mail some things to my ex, who is overseas on a Navy deployment. The post office made it exceptionally difficult. I see why they're going out of business. Shameful.

You might get up at 3 a.m. and ride 180 miles to see airplanes? That's crazy talk.

You could leave now. Make a three day weekend of it.

The only thing worse is the mind numbing experience of the Dept. of Motor Vehicles.

I didn't have any problem at all when I mailed my papers to Canada. Didn't even have to wait in line. The guy did yell at me for using a small piece of Express Mail tape on the back of the envelope. It's not allowed if you are not using Express Mail.

I wonder how many times they messed that up before they got good at it.

Blue Angels in Seattle is a moving experience. I was bummed my first SeaFair after 9-11 cuz they stopped letting people out on the bridge, but the view from the park was still nice. Last few times I've just set up in a neighborhood in the hills above the lake and that's actually the best! They come so close to the hills they just shake your whole body as they fly by.

In bike news I'm really starting to think I need a '70s road rig.

Maybe something along these lines.
