So my gun nut friend just bought a .50bmg sniper rifle. It shoots the bullet in the middle. On the right is a 9mm handgun roung, and to the left is a 5.56mm out of a AR-15, or M-16.

That's the ammo they used in the WWII air war, P-51's, B-17's, B-24's, they used 50mm rounds to shoot down Nazi aircraft. They are more like miniature artillery shells than bullets. One of those hits your head, it probably blows it to pieces.
