I've got a great German mechanic, luckily. I noticed a lot of stations don't have diesel. My current Jetta has 57k, and the automatic transmission is starting to get finicky.

My ex sister-in-law used to love her VW's. She would always brag about how great the warranty was when she was having yet another transmission replaced.

Try to fine a VW with more than 80,000 miles that hasn't had at least one power window regulator replaced. That's like trying to find a clean pro cyclist from 1999.

Current Jetta, the A/C compressor has gone kaput. Which is weird, because after about 10 minutes of driving it cools. Not so bad, except it's a $2k repair on a leased car.

Pcad's neighbors are putting ads on toilet paper. It's about time! Seems like it'll do better than the above -the-urinal ads.

These kind of repairs almost never happen with the more reliable Japanese brands. I'm telling you, that's why I threw in the towel on Euro cars (that's all I used to drive) in the last ten years. Went Acura in 2004 and never looked back, now we have a Prius and a Lexus. It also helps that the Japanese cars are so much better today than they were 15-20 years ago relative to the Euro competition.
I love VWs, Volvos, etc, but for me reliability is the primary consideration. Cars that break are a hassle I don't need, let alone a big money pit. We're very happy with these gas sipping cars. When the gas guzzler in the garage is the motorcycle, you have achieved reasonable fuel efficiency.

Five straight weeks of house guests is over. Friend, crazy sister in law, mom and sister, friend, and mother in law + husband. A couple times I was forced to go sit in the truck in the garage to collect myself.

Love that movie! I do recall a similar, earlier example, however. Circa 1980 someone imprinted TP with the visage of Khomeni to stoke the patriotic. I'm gonna wipe my butt with his face! Take that, Iran!
I guess this new stuff is gonna have bar codes on that you can scan with your cell phone. Don't drop it in the bowl, now!

In other "the more things change, the more they stay the same" news, I just found out that toe clips and saddles with anatomical cut-outs have been around since at least 1900.

Why did she buy it? Warranty. Our truck needs a little work and she's facing a ~$2k repair bill. So she spent $30k so as to avoid having to spend $2k.
