I feel lucky as I commute in Prague now. Not the greatest city for bike lanes but it has improved quite a bit in recent years.

I'm still in the process of moving, but I'll definitely being on Hood this fall. Do you typically skin or lift up?

There's still a lot of snow in the highlands up here. Skis would make some descents much easier and faster for me. In the winter, they'd let me get myself to some places that I can't get without them - snow shoes are very slow.

Best thing to do is find some people to ski with since they can give you pointers on technique and gear. If you have any kayaking buddies, I'd ask them -- I've found that there is huge overlap between people who do kayaking and backcountry. A lot of mashed potatoes when it's hot like it is now, but skis always beat the heck of of shoes.

What will your last couple of rides be like, you gonna ride a touch slower than normal and soak it all in, or just go at normal pace?

I believe you should always finish strong so I dialed it up a notch today. For my last day at the other location, I plan to have difficulty walking by the time I get home.

I debated which bike to take for a bit. My trusty Winter commuter which I use at least 90% of the time is pretty zippy and my highracer is my fastest bike. But I wanted to feel light and sporty so I took my race bike even though it's the one I commute on the least.

A cyclist complaining of moving to Portland? Is that like a sailor complaining of moving to Hawaii? ;)

A few years back, some guy in foo was complaining about getting laid too much (seriously). You can imagine how that went over...
