Saddle recommendation. Please advise.
 

I need a new saddle. Racing. Aggressive. High end.
I've needed it for a while. Things that should never get numb are getting numb. So I want to try something with a cutout. I've tried tilting the nose down slightly but can't get used to that. Now my saddle is beginning to disintegrate so I'll finally get something (as if the numb parts weren't enough of a good reason!!).

Between Fizik, Selle Italia or anything else, let me know your recommendations and online deals, please.
Once I tried that Specialized tester and believe my seatbones measured at 135mm width.

What about fizik and selle italia?

I have the fizik Aliante with the grove like in the link below. I like it. No complaints. They have different models based on your flexibility. May be marketing BS but after riding all three I liked this one best. Find a shop with demo saddles (regardless of brand) because you need to put some miles on it before you will really know how it feels.

Seems to me saddles are pretty personal and it will be hard for someone to tell you what will be good for you.

Then dont buy an S-Works? They make less expensive versions.

Im on a Fizik Antares VS. I also have almost the same sit bone width as you(about 138) and I like it so far.

+1 on this. While finding out what other people are riding might help a little the only real way to tell what saddle will fit you is to test them out. There are also some online shops that have test programs, you should check out bens cycle.

Just another vote for finding a saddle demo at an LBS. I believe there are a few online shops that also do this. Perhaps someone who knows the place can chime in. There is very little gained in finding out what everyone else rides. Just look at this thread. 14 responses and I count at least five different suggestions. Whatever you do, make sure to take care when installing the saddle. A degree or two in the wrong tilt or a few millimeters too high or low, and a saddle that would work for you becomes an ass hatchet.

I think I have tried practically all. JK. I have experience with the Romin which was pretty good. I hated the Arione and the Alliente, tried many miles on each hoping to be able to keep the cool look but my ass rebelled. I now ride, and will never change, the Brooks Professional. No matter that it is 300 grams heavier, it is cycling bliss. The beauty that is absent from so many other saddles is that it conforms to your butt.
True enough, saddles are very personal and different folks have different favorites, but ask anyone who has really tried one and you usually find they will never go back.

Ask yourself, is your current saddle and aggressive riding shape? The LBS can recommend similiar shapes if you bring yours in, and should let you try them for a few days as long as you don't damage or scratch it. With my incredibly limited experience this last week I wouldn't buy an unknown saddle any other way. I had soreness in the privates (specifically not the jewels) when in the drops prompting me to a cutout saddle. The Specialized Avatar felt flat and I wasn't "in the saddle" so to speak. Tried the Specialiezed Romin Evo Comp which is more aggressive and wide cutout and right away huge improvement. I'll ride it 20 or miles today and see how it feels.

While you are looking for the right saddle, you may want to take a look at the ISM Adamo line of saddles. I know a lot of people that ride them, and have never heard one complaint from anyone I asked about them. I also ride on one, the Prologue model, and it's been bliss from the time my butt first touched it. It's just the same riding the hoods, the drops or the aerobars. If you like the narrow nosed type of saddle, the ISM may not be suited for you. I actually noticed quite a few of the Olympic riders using them.

Brooks Swallow or Brooks Professional. You can get either model with titanium rails.

I'm really liking the Selle Italia SLR XC Flow saddle.
