Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Well, my stock bontrager saddle is kind of hurting my butt after somewhat long (50+ mile rides) every day. So, I am looking to upgrade. The Selle Italia Turbomatic 3 from nashbar looks like a steal ($40), any other suggestions?

Edit: Sorry, forgot to specify. Comfort is most important, as I am a recreational rider/commuter.

Well I like my body geoemtry saddle a lot. Split down the middle does a lot to relieve pressure I think. Never had to wear cycling shorts with this saddle (even for 100+ mile rides)

LOL. I just made post concerning saddles. I can share mym personal experience. The new Selle SLR I got is turning out to be much better than my older Lookin, and Schwinn gel saddles.

Big vote for Selle Italia Turbomatic here. Great saddles.

try this performance at a killer price, it worked for me. Can't beat the price, it looks like 120 dollar saddle

I had a similar saddle that came stock on my Specialized Sequoia. Not only was it painful to ride (both without and with cycling shorts) it also put my junk to sleep. Not cool. A Fizik Pave solved both problems. After comparing both saddles, I came to the conclusion that the numbness was being caused by a combination of too much padding and too wide of a saddle. The Pave is pretty stiff on top and a bit more narrow and works quite well, for me.
