Street Racing

Hello. Today I was riding home and this lady in a nice racing bike well fit zoom pass me. She was just spinning like a mad woman. I'm guessing had bike had at least a 56T chainring but not sure what # cog she was using on the rear. I was going fast already like 30 mph and she was going like at least close to 40mph and was just spinning the cranks.

She finally looked back once when she passed me and probably saw that I was close to her then she changed direction and rode up the avenues instead of riding up the streets #. I was always 2 street behind her and I tried my best to keep up with her but couldn't. If I haven't rode like 30 miles earlier I might have been able to pass her. I was tire and was riding home still at a very fast speed.

Could she be using a very high gear ratio and had strong leg to be able to spin really fast?? Or could it be everything lighter bike and very thin tire, and just stronger rider?? I was on single speed 48/14 and was going like 30 mph on flat pavement with a slight downhill slope.

What do you guys think?

thinktubes 08-20-12 06:04 PM

Maybe she was using Nitrous?

JaceK 08-20-12 06:04 PM

I think your use of english is horrifyingly hard to read.

PedalingFool 08-20-12 06:14 PM

LOL - you guys are brutal.

at least 200 shot. Maybe forced air.

LowCel 08-20-12 06:20 PM

If you saw a woman riding a 56t at 40 mph and it was flat ground I hope she is a pro. If not then have her get in contact with me, I would love to "sponsor" her.

Long story short, you had your ass handed to you by a female.

350htrr 08-20-12 06:22 PM

She was probably riding an E-assist bike but you failed to notice... Or... Maybe she was just that good... :)

rubic 08-20-12 06:22 PM

Everything the OP says adds up, except for the 2 MPH numbers. Poetic justice?

48x14 at 30 mph is almost 120 rpm, but you say this woman was "spinning like a mad woman".

Check your cycling computer and take it off "metric".

Horrible writing, and you're going "like 30 mph" when you're just riding along easily on your fixie. You definitely belong on BF.

ultraman6970 08-20-12 08:04 PM

Well 30 mph is around 48 km/h... with 48x14 in the street??? well besides being a lot of gearing for the street if you can do those speeds you should do track racing, well... not really but yes you can do those speeds with 48x14 the issue is for how long? 48x14 is around 51x15 and thats a lot of gear even for people that do track racing. Average per points races RPMs is over 100 so I believe the kid, what i do not believe is the gearing he is using for the street :) Probably you are the HOY of the asians or something :D Just assuming you are asian maybe you are not.

Well good for you... as for the lady... 56?? well, that I would have love to see :D Next time talk to her or something, you might even get laid that day :P

DropDeadFred 08-20-12 08:07 PM

was she wearing flip flops?

DropDeadFred 08-20-12 08:08 PM

Yes.

SimonLee 08-20-12 08:15 PM

i would have talk to her if i can catch her. she did stop like only 2 times at the lights. i try and try and was always 2 streets behind her. then she got smart i think she was getting tire and knew i will soon be able to catch up to her and pass her so she changed direction and went up the avenues. i seen people with like chainrings bigger than mines riding single speed but their rear cog is probably not a 14 but a 15 or 16 at most. but man i am really riding 48/14 no lies.

SimonLee 08-20-12 08:15 PM

i was not talking to you lol bro. :p

DropDeadFred 08-20-12 08:18 PM
