Has anyone ordered from Dermanta Cycle Central?

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Has anyone ordered from Dermanta Cycle Central?

Hi all. I've been planning to invest in a new road bike and was browsing the Interwebz when I stumbled upon this company, hailing from Indonesia apparently - https://www.dermantamitra-cycles.com/ .

Now, the Cannondale I've been looking at retails for over 2000€ over here, whereas Dermanta's price is just shy of 600€.

When something looks too good to be true, it often is, and the website itself looks a bit shoddy in places. The recommendatiosn on certain bikes all look like they're written by the same person as well. I tried to email them yesterday to ask a bit about the company but have not received any answer yet.

So, my question would be, has anyone had anything to do with this company?

cheers,

S

OK, I'm guessing no one has ordered from that company. I'll try to investigate and see if I come up with something... or else I'll just order something and see if it arrives in good order.

So, I'll just add this:

I did get a mail from the company, saying that

-------------------------

Dear sir,

Thank you for your email.

Sure we can release the shipping to Europe
The total price not including insurance and tax.
If you are interest the connondale, please send your address with postal
code so we can calculate the insurance and tax to your country.
Waiting your reply.

Now, this didn't strike me as the most convincing answer ever, but I did mail them back. Let's see what happens. On the other hand, the handy website Scamadviser says some interesting things about the site: https://www.scamadviser.com/check-web...tra-cycles.com
(i.e. "suspicious", "could be unsafe", "the owner uses a service to hide his identity" etc)

Conclusion, I highly doubt they'll be seeing my money.

I think most of the scammers from Nigeria moved to Indonesia!

In addition to what you already said:

Google Maps doesn't find the street address provided in their home page.
Their "privacy policy" page is copypasted from another Indonesian web bike store (palace-bike.com).
They list a Cervelo 2010 model, but cervelo.com doesn't show them as a Cervelo dealer (several other bike shops in Surabaya show up though).
They list Cannondales. Authorized Cannondale dealers are not allowed to sell through Internet or mail order, it's a Cannondale policy. IF messieurs Dermanta actually have Cannondales to sell, you might ask them where those bikes came from.

If they really mean import tax, they'd be the only webshop that I know of providing this service. Acquiring that information would require serious effort on their part. If they mean VAT, shipping costs etc, then it's different.

None of this is conclusive of course, but it would be enough to make me look elsewhere too.

So I got an answer (having provided the city I live in and the postal code, not any street address), stating that:

-------------------------

Dear sir,

Thank you for your shipping address.
The cost of insurance and tax US$ 145.
If you want to buy let us know how many unit do you want to order?
Waiting your confirmation.

I think I'll give this one a wide berth. Thanks for the info above, Juha, enlightening.
