Pro ti titanium frame

I found a bike locally with this frame in all reality i want bike more for components but was curious in the frame guy said he paid 1200 7yrs ago for it hes only ashing 300 its got ultegra on it with mavic open wheels and look pedals. Also if its even a decent frameh how would i go about making sure that its in good shape i know titanium is hard to weld and if not done right could result in injury? Thank

TrojanHorse 08-30-12 10:22 PM

SO he bought it used too?

corwincastle 08-30-12 10:30 PM

He told me he bought it from a shop in denver so i assumed it was new then?

manutd 08-30-12 10:34 PM

What make is it? is it a Bikes Direct bike?

TrojanHorse 08-30-12 10:38 PM

$1200 for a Ti frame with ultegra new? Does not compute. Not even 7 years ago.

corwincastle 08-30-12 10:47 PM

I do not know the bike only says "pro ti" and "titanium" its blue similar to the new mustang i figured it wad a cheaper ti frame not 1 one of the good 1s but just wanted to know if it was a solid choice until i put it on a new frame.

The thing is, cheap Ti frames are still going to run you about a grand. There's no way to do Ti for cheap.

Colorado Cyclist use to sell a house brand Ti bike. Could be one of those.

I don't know, there's a Lynskey R430 in the local CL for $750.

corwincastle 08-30-12 11:06 PM

Unless you have to replace every single component, $300 sounds like a fair price for that.

Nice looking bike and looks like it could possibly be a very good deal.

BykOfALesserGod 08-31-12 11:39 AM

Stolen bike? I say this because it appears the seller doesn't know the value of the bike. Unless something is very wrong with it like a bent frame

...As long as something, ANYTHING, other than the frame is good, that's an amazingly low price. Like suspiciously low.

IthaDan 08-31-12 12:43 PM

Jesus, it's a cyclocross bike? Just do, ask questions later.

corwincastle 08-31-12 07:02 PM

Ok so i pulled the trigger on the ole girl shorty brakes ulyegra throughout richie pro headset mavic opens with ultegra hubs ritchy bars look pedals selle italia saddle

Maybe it was in August.

Nice score doesnt Litespeed pretty well builds all ti frames.

Commodus 10-03-12 08:36 AM

I believe...now don't quote me, but I think a local rider here had a ti frame like that, from "pro ti". A Chinese company using Russian titanium alloys, from back when they were flooding the market with the stuff.

His broke, but he liked it well enough until then.

This one is called Precision Ti. I think Colorado Cyclist used to sell an upgraded version of this bike that was called Pro Ti.

I doubt it. They're made locally and you see good deals from time to time. Look at the completed listings on eBay. Used and NOS frame prices are down for all materials.
