Buy an EVO? Or what?
Following the principle that I should only race what I can afford to replace, getting a Cannondale Supersix EVO was out of the question at first. I was thinking of getting a regular Supersix and maybe finally investing in a quarq power meter with the budget surplus.
However, I found out this one LBS offers a very aggressive crash replacement program with every new bike - free replacement for 2 yrs. 50% off for 5 yrs. Pro fit, yearly overhauls, and other benefits. 15% off on the 2012 EVO w/ RED takes it down to $4,400.00. 6 available on my size. Does that price/discount sound about right for this time of the year? Good deal on the bike?
So, given the crash replacement program, I'm almost thinking seriously about getting that light and stiff beast to race and ride.
What say you 41? Stick with a bike half the price, buy the quarq? Go for it? Other options?

Get the Evo. If you want to get a cheaper version for crashing then get a CAAD10. Tubing and geometry is the same. The supersix is nice but not quite the same as the Evo and 10.
If you crash the Evo it most likely will do better than a supersix and can always be fixed at Calfee etc.

I would love to have an EVO. Always have liked how Cannondale bikes looked. Never ridden one...yet.
My racing buddy has his bike insured as a ride on his home insurance policy. It's around $300.00 a year. No deductible, and coverage up to $3,000.00. You might also look into that.

I'd go for the six with the quarg. The EVO is amazing but the frame on its own isn't much lighter/stiffer than the six. Having the extra bucks to add the quarg far out weighs any benefits the EVO could provide IMO.
If you want BLING, get the EVO. If you want the tools to help you grow faster and stronger, get the six.
Don't get me wrong, I don't mean to downplay the EVO, or upsell the six. Probably the most efficient money spent would be on a caad 10 nude + quarg, + wheels, + garmin. But I'm a cannondale fanboy.

Even with a replacement policy in place, I could not bare crashing an EVO.

Dude, you just got your cat 3 upgrade, it's time to reward yourself with a new bike. Get the Evo.
I briefly considered going with an Evo when I got my 3 upgrade a couple months ago, but ended up going with an Argon 18 Gallium Pro. I'll probably still race my old bike for a little while though.

Get the Evo. That stupid smile on your face while riding will be priceless. You still have the Neuvation for back up, you'll be fine.

41, hoping to revive this thread.
So The Evo 2 (RED Build) is an " entry-level" EVO, if you will.
This concept upsets me!! For a 5k bike....
The stem, crank, saddle rails, and other parts are inferior to the other builds.
I'm ok with the Ksyrium wheels vs the SL's. Please comment on the other parts - ?
Quarq - the shop has a 172.5 standard (that's me) Sram, but GXP which would need an adapter and therefore would give me 20%off. What's the deal with GXP + adapter on the bb30?
Again, is this EVO2 build compromising too much for a 4500 bike??
Thanks!

The adapter is usually ok as long as you or your LBS installs them correctly. There is additional weight but it's not that huge a deal. Also, the GXP version is probably the more flexible/future-proof option in case you get a non-BB30 frame in the future.
The other parts are fine. FSA makes ok stuff. I'd just ride until it breaks or until I have the scratch for an upgrade.
Also, don't get the quarq unless you really plan to use it. I mean REALLY use it. This entails spending a few hours a week analyzing your data and establishing a solid, power-based training regimen. Or, you could hire a coach to do the analysis instead. But, the quarq will be useless to you if you don't take advantage of the data.

Ha! I wish! Can I borrow a few bucks?
Good to dream tho.
I'm tempted to get the EVO2 Red stock build. I don't know much about stems and cranks and saddle rails but am hoping that other than a small weight penalty, those parts are still very good.
Should I do it?? Is the bike worth it? What will change for next models?

Yeah, I'm hoping my 54cm would be around 15.5lbs with pedals and not so light 1530g wheels. Think im doing it!

Hahahaha great memory, man! And you helped me a lot by pushing me then as well! I'll go to the shop this weekend, negotiate a little more. Hopefully pull the trigger next week... Meanwhile I'll keep bugging you for your opinion on the parts. This bike will never be outgrown basically, right? lol. What's changing in the 2013 frame and parts. My build is all 2012 red?
