Open letter from a Dutch Bike riding lady to all Road Cyclists

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Open letter from a Dutch Bike riding lady to all Road Cyclists

If you absolutely MUST make fun of my upright position at a group ride, please use the proper form (i.e. singing or humming the Wizard of Oz song). Do not say that "that lady needs a magic wand," as those are a popular brand of vibrator. Thank you.

Gee, I think I'm glad I learned on BF that there are "popular" brands of vibrators.

I think.

Really, I do.

Maybe.

Umm, who the hell am I kidding?

i think a magic wand would help release some of that pent up sexual frustration.

Perhaps it was a failed flirting attempt, and the 'magic wand' referred to something a little more...uh, organic.

For its popularity, it appears dangerous for that application.

Happened Sunday at the New York Century as I was preparing to leave with the 35 mile group. I'm not really a morning person, understand., and I heard this dude saying this as I was walking my bike over to the start and was just about to be all "How dare you sir!?" and "Sexism!!!" when I got that he was talking about the bike. I should also add that I arrived at the start by way of Harlem, so I had already heard enough commentary, thank you very much.

So no, I'm not calling any BF members out. Frankly, y'all seem a helpful bunch. I've been coming here for a while as your roadie tips have helped me better pilot my tank. I just know that it's funny looking to some (whatever, I'm comfortable) and I wanted to pay it forward with some tips on the most charming way to make fun.

Most road cyclists pass me handily. As they should, really. My saddle weighs 4 pounds.
