How often?

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

How often?

How often do you need to lube your chain in the winter. If all you are doing is sitting on a trainer?
Just curious

Peace

I normally keep my chain and drive train bright and shiny. Whenever it doesn't look clean I clean it. Some days (like today) when the roads are wet I will clean after every ride. Remember dirt is your bikes enemy. Even on a trainer you will grind off metal and pick up dirt.

The real answer is just whenever you get the symptoms of riding a dirty/unlubed chain. Though i would imagine that since your indoors all the time you would not need to worry about a chain getting that dirty, maybe a bit of dust but once a month is probably fine.
