SRAM Force Shifting Question
This should be an easy question to answer for a SRAM user
I installed my 2012 Force group yesterday. Switched over from Shimano Does FD shift: Option 1: small chain ring, large ring trim. large ring or Option 2: small ring, small ring trim, large ring right now it's just trying to catch on the big ring after first shift from small ring. W/o knowing this i can't adjust it accordingly. |
There is no trim on SRAM FD. At least on the 2010 and up. When I shift to the big ring, it goes on...if not, it needs to be adjusted. Going to the small ring, is the same way.

I'm a little confused how you are putting it.
I think you can only adjust the trim while in the large ring. Small ring only allows you to shift up to the big ring, no trim option. |

My 2010 (I think...maybe '09) Red goes Small ring-Large ring. If you need to trim the large inboard, do a half-click to move the DR a couple mm inboard. To trim outboard again, do a big push "through" to the large ring as if you were upshifting.

Yeah. 2011 Red and Force here and they both have trims just inside the big ring. Shifts from little to big ring. Then click to trim. Then click to small ring. When in the big ring, you can bypass the trim position by pushing the lever further than the first click and it will drop directly to the small ring. I never use trim on the Force or Red bikes.

Thanks for all the replies. I might just bring it to LBS, and let them tune it the first time. It probably would be easier for me to visually see what i'm trying to achieve w/the FD. RD was simple to tune.
BTW liking the SRAM shifting so far, at least on the RD. Nice shifting in the drops |
If I understand your question correctly, I think Option 1 is correct.
There is no trim when going from small to large - the chain just shifts from small to large. There is, however, a trim when going from large to small. It's pretty small though. |
