Colnago C40 HP shakedown
I bought this bike about a week ago and finally got to take it for a ride, 30+ miles later, I think I like it.
This is my first "modern bike" and my first road bike with Dura Ace. I've only ridden campy on my other road bikes and was ready to dump the DA since being on a Colnago I thought was just wrong. Man have I changed my mind about that, the DA brifters shifted like a dream, braking was great, and I will definitely keep this group on the bike.
The bike itself handled like I would have expected, being a Colnago, and I was pleasantly surprised with the feel and response of the carbon fiber frame and fork. All in all it was a very pleasant ride and I am looking forward to putting many more miles on it.

Looks like 7700 9-Speed to me.
And OP, forget about all the hatred that Shimano gets from "elitist cyclists", who rave and rave about Campy as compared to Shimano. I have never owned a Campy bike myself, but I've ridden Campy-equipped bikes owned by friends, and I'll only buy Shimano components with my own money. Shimano stuff just works and works well without fuss.
The only thing I'll change if I could? Repairability/rebuildability of Shimano components with support of the company thru the availabilty of spare parts.

^Yeah I think you are right it is a 9 speed, and I am really impressed with the components. I like the Cane Creek headset too, very nice finish and the Mavic Ksyrium wheel set is pretty awesome.

But I keep coming back to Campagnolo because for me, I prefer the look, performance and reliability of Campagnolo components. When I recently upgraded my 1989 Bottecchia (bought new in 1989) from DT shifters to the Athena 11V gruppo, I did it for the convenience factor of having all my road bikes run 11 speed groups and the ease of use of brifters--the original Campy components still worked perfectly after over 20 years of use and utold thousands of miles ridden in all kinds of weather.
On the other hand, the DA and Ultegra components just were not as reliable or as durable.
So for me, it is not "hatred," it is just that I prefer the proven performance of Campy gear--in fact, sometimes I think that Shimano and SRAM owners have a huge inferiority complex chip on their shoulders that is why they always talk about the "hatred."
We are all cyclists, there ain't no room for "hatred.?
The OP, and everyone else, is free to use and enjoy their Shimano or SRAM equipped bikes.
Peace out.

Thanks! Now I just need to get some good pictures, the ones I posted were from the Craig's list add. And they don't do the bike justice at all.
