Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Foot Cramp

Use Look Keo pedals and when I start a ride and for first 5 miles or so the pinky to middle toe on left foot are cramping and feel like wrapping around pedal

Seems to get better after that and for rest of rides (another 60 miles usually)

Any thoughts?

In addition to what was said in the previous thread, I find that I sometimes put a lot of tension in my feet, even if it does not actually affect anything with the stiff soles of the cycling shoes that we wear. I never got cramps, but I have noticed the tension. I now relax them more while cycling and the issue is gone with no effect on performance. It is like most other parts of your body on the bike (shoulders, neck, hands etc.) if you keep them tense over long periods, it will start to wear on you.
