Gatorskin sidewall thread
1 Attachment(s)
Recently purchased a gatorskin, but after few blocks I see a thread coming off.
I dont' want a blowout going down 30Mph. Is this for any concern? http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=275487 |
No, that's the norm for Gatorskins. Just snip the excess off with scissors.
|
I get those sometimes on my Conti GP4kS tires. Like clothing, cut the thread with a blade - don't pull it.
|
Its flashing from the molds, nothing to worry about. My new 'Skins are doing it now.
|
Those tyres are changing skin like snakes, as they are getting BIGGER! :)

Freaked me out a bit too. My side walls look like this, and I was stuck between "my, those side walls seem a bit...too solid" and "but the tread's not gone yet." I decided to keep them on my bike. For what reason, I do not know, but I do like them.

I had the same thing when I mounted my Gatorskins in December. I just cut them off and forgot about them. Almost 5,000 miles on this pair with no problems.
|
I have had 3 sets of gatorskins that all blew sidewalls. Will never buy gatorskins again. Wouldn't mount them even if they were given to me free.
