Still 102 degrees in North County San Diego

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Good Lord, make it stop! It's been in the hign 90's-100's for about two months now. Did 40 miles today and thought I was going to die. This is the hottest summer I have seen.

My miles have definitely gone down the last two months. Looking forward to moving to the Florida Gulf Coast in a couple of months. It's 20 degrees cooler there.

You won't like the humidity change. But you will have more days to ride.

75 * here on the Texas Gulf Coast is still not all that fun, but doable.

I'm in the Inland Empire and have been leaving for my rides about 20 minutes before sunset for the last 6 weeks. No way I'd go out in the midday sun once it gets above 90. I really hope this is the last heat wave of the year...

I doubt you will have more rideable days than in San Diego. It is unusually hot this year but I just came back from the beach and the temp was in the high 70s. Yesterday was the same.

Summer started out coolish around here in Ventura County, but then the last few weeks have been hot and humid. What's up with that?

Plus to make it worse, there is no onshore wind to carry me home on the return leg of my rides out to PCH.

Still uncharacteristically hot here in Phoenix as well. I remember a couple training rides a few months ago that were in 115+* heat... cause of my freaking oncall schedule.

I'm on the eastern edge of the City of San Diego (right by SDSU) and it's only 90 here. Still too hot for the last day of September. Most of my rides take me out into east county, and it's a good 10-20 degrees hotter out that way.

More cold water. Heat isn't so bad if you prepare for it. Wear a light cap if you need it and good wicking clothing. I also use arm coolers. Today on the Tour de Poway it hit 104 degrees according to my Garmin.

Yes, it gets hot here, but I'll take that any day over the weather where I just moved from: Seattle. Riding year-round up there is much, much harder.

Talk to us next summer when you've been spoiled by 9 months of great weather. Riding above 90 in the socal sun, for me, means sweating like I'm in a sauna.

We climbed Mary Ln and Bandy Canyon on our way to Rancho Santa Fe. Little warm, not too bad. It got kind of hot on Del Dios but we all lived through it.

What we are experiencing this summer isn't typical. Yes 75 and sunny is the norm.

I went out to do my ride around 11:00 and the temp in Newport Beach was 79. Not bad with an ocean breeze.

Getting within 2-3 miles of the coast usually shields you from the heat. I'm planning to move down to the west side or south bay in 2 months.

Though I recently moved from Seattle, I grew up in Orlando, FL where 90 degrees with 100% humidity was the norm. I'll take the heat over 30's, overcast, windy, and rain any day

Forecast calls for 104* in the East Bay, CA area tomorrow. It was 100* today during my 45 mile ride, but a cool front is coming and the temp drops to 84 on Friday. Should be great riding weather next weekend.

San Diego county has four distinct weather systeam.

Coastal is the beautiful part, this is the area from the coast to about 5 miles inland. This is the area people think about when they think San Diego. Fantastic weather year round. Which is why a 1200sf apartment will run you about $800,000 there.

Inland areas go from about 5 miles inland to about 25 miles. It gets freaking hot. It's basically a coolish desert area. 100's in the summer are normal. It's usually about 10-15 degrees hotter than the coast.

The Mountan area is just east of the inland and it gets cold. They get heavy snow every year. Max elevation is about 7000 feet. Bring your snow chains in the winter. It's normally about 15-20 degrees cooler than the Inland.

Then there is the Desert area...just east of the mountains. This is a real desert area. Hot as balls. 110+ is normal.

Four separate weather patterns in one county.

Wave bye-bye to the hills. You won't see any where you're going.

The weather in south Louisiana is very similar to that in FL, 90s during summer afternoons with high humidity. You'll hydrate better, since it'll be painfully obvious how much you're sweating. The flip side is that you'll be able to ride all year, so it's not all bad news.
