pinarello fake?

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Jeebus.

The seller is based in China and their Ebay store is focused on Musical instruments. What do YOU think...

I went to the Pinarello factory in Treviso, Italy, last month and I didn't see any musical instruments. So you may be right.

If it's too good to be true, it probably isn't real.

Too bad the quality of some of these generic Chinese carbon frames are suspect because they aren't too bad looking. I'd love to use one to build up a bike for fun at a cheap price.....I'd just be afraid that it would assplode on me when riding.

The FP3 is a mid-range model and no longer a current Pinarello model. In 2011 it morphed into the FPQuattro (same crabon, new tube shapes, fully assymetric. My 2010 FP3 says "Asymmetric Rear System" on the chain stays.)

Anyway, is there enough demand for mid-level no-longer-in-production bikes to warrant fakes?

How much is the seller asking?

I'd be willing to bet that some (I'm not saying this one, no way to know) of the fakes we see come about because of the changes in frames. Something along the lines of: Old molds are discarded by the factory making the legit frames, only to end up in another factory to produce unbranded framed.

I ride with two guys who've been riding chinarello frames for almost 3 years w/o a single issue. These are frames that even have a serial # and look exactly the same as the real deal; they paid $500 a piece for them...

$1300 for a 2010 With Ultegra and Dura Ace.So far has not e-mailed me back so it's either taken or it's a scam.

$1300 is not that ridiculously low -esp if has been used. I've been seeing NOS 2009 bikes go for about $2000. In 2009 there were two Dura Ace FP3's. One had leftover 2008 parts (ie 7800) and retailed for $3800. The one with 2009 Dura Ace (ie 7900) retailed for $5500. In 2010 (mine) they came equipped with Centaur, Ultegra, or Sram Force (mine). You can see all this on gitabike.com. So either this is not a 2010, or it might be a 2010 ultegra bike with some upgrades?

Get it if you can. I LOVE mine.

I have seen more fake ones than real ones. The fake ones are still very nice bikes and likely won't asplode if you buy it new. The worst thing about them is the paint job is not as perfect and won't last as long, but the carbon fiber is generally structurally fine if it has not been crashed or abused which is always suspect on a used carbon fiber bike of any kind that you don't know the history. The fake ones are cheap enough new that I would not take a chance on a used one.

When they ask you to send a postal money order or a cashiers check, you can stop kidding yourself about it being real. If you can meet and inspect at a shop then it might be real.
