Used Synapse- what's it worth?I

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I am looking at a real nice 2009 Synapse Ultra 7, has Sora/Tiagra, aluminum frame. It's nice, but not wanting to overpay, what do you think is a fair price? Not sure if it's a US made frame or not.

I see that a roughly equivalent 2012 unit can be had at REI for $779.

See if you can find a similar bike that sold on Ebay under "completed listings".

Seems a bit high in comparison to some I've seen on clist. Of course you have less to word about buying from a dealer so it might even out

The bike I am looking at is privately owned. I just threw the REI price up as general info. He says has just been tuned up.

I checked Ebay , nothing under the completed listings. There is a very similar unit currently for sale, start price is 550, no bids. The bike is also local pickup only, so this may or may not impact the price.

I paid a little under $600 + shipping last year for an alloy 2006 Synapse, but it was 105/Ultegra equipped.
Love it, love it.
With Boyd vVttesse wheels I got in June, 18lbs. So far 3900 mi this year, cause I love it.
