Source for Shimano FC-6500 Octalink Crank bolts?

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Does anyone have a suggestion for a cheap version of these? I'm coming up with prices of $16 each. I only need one....

You might find some shop locally that has some in their old parts bins, but MSRP on one of those is $16.99.

There also are times in life where you just have to pay the freight and get on with things. Is it worth having a $2000 bike down for lack of a $17 part? Running from LBS to LBS at $5 gallon gas also should be considered. Yes I hate to pay seemingly crazy prices for things but what does an entire crank set cost. Good luck.

Thanks for the replies. The crank in question was an auction purchase. Contacted the seller and he promised to send the missing bolt, so I hope he follows through. If not, I'll bite the bullet and fork over the cash. This is for my third or forth string bike so I'm not w/o a bike. Still a bit sticker shock for these bolts. A pair would set me back $32!

You can get M15 bolts off of a big auction site for about $5 shipped per pair. They're not the self-extracting type so you'll need to use a crank puller to remove the crankset later but if your crankset is threaded for a puller it should be fine.
