GT Series Three?

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

GT Series Three?

I'm looking for my first road bike and I stumbled upon this one on craigslist:

https://www.ibikeparts.com/GT-BICYCLE...462509646.html

GT R design with smooth welded Kinesis 6061 butted tubing
Reynolds Ouzo Comp Integrated Design 1 1/8" fork
Shimano compact crankset 50/34, 2 piece design
Wellgo Clipless pedals
Shimano compact front, Shimano Ultegra rear derailleurs
Shimano Tiagra STI 9 speed shifter/brake levers
Shimano 9 speed cassette 11-25
Shimano HG-53 9speed chain
Alex Crostini R2.1 rims black anodized with silver sidewalls
Vittoria Zaffiro 700 x 23 C tires
Shimano Tiagra hubs
Tektro Forged Dual pivot brakes
FSA Road Oversize with anatomic shape handlebar
FSA OS -170, 3D forged and CNC machined stem
Selle San Marco Ponza saddle
FSA SL-280 seatpost

Seller says it is still brand new with tags on it and will part with it for $500. I'm also going to look at a Fuji Roubaix 2.0 2011 that I can hopefully snag for less than $400.

I cannot find much information on this bike and I'm not too knowledgable about the frame. I was wondering if anyone could help tell me more about this bike?

Thanks!

The frame is good. Very good, in fact. I'm just wondering how "new" it is. The link takes me to a 2007 model year bike. No clue what components were on a new GTR 3 in 2007. For 2012, it was all-Tiagra (certainly not Ultegra RD), Alix 200 rims, FSA crank, Schwalbe Lugano tires, and a GT house brand saddle. And cheap plastic platform pedals.

I'd be a little suspicious about it being "new".

I actually just bought my first road bike and went with the 2012 GT GTR Series 3. Now not having anything to compare it to other than mountain bike I LOVE IT. First ride did 3 miles and a week later I am doing 18 miles a day averaging 50-70 miles a week. Has been flawless so far other than paint chipping on lower forks but what can you do.

You know, if you look around, I'll bet that you can find a leftover 2012 GTR 3 for not a lot more than $500.

I don't think it's a GTR, just a GT Series 3

yup just picked up one for 567.00 they're running or were running a 10% off promo, giantnerd. the next best place was performance bike. I compared it to a couple of bikedirect bikes based off specs and thought this one was a bit better. I think I got the sizing right as well, well I'll find out when it gets here! It was also lower than the trek 1.1 at a trek store, so I saved about a hundred bucks plus easily another 65 bucks in tax. But I"ll have to do my own assembling and maybe have it tweaked at a bike shop for 45 (already got a shop lined up if I can't do it myself).

You also got a Tiagra group instead of a 2300 group, carbon fork blades, and a better frame, than you would have had on the 1.1.
